About Us

Next Generation is a person centred organisation based in Plymouth supporting people with a learning disability in Devon and Cornwall. Our team has over twenty years experience of supporting people with learning disabilities. We want everyone to have the opportunity to achieve the things they want out of life. Everything we do is about valuing and supporting people with a learning disability. Any adult with a learning disability can access our services.

At Next Generation we will always:

  • Listen to you
  • Design and build support around you, rather than fit you into a 'service'
  • Let you choose who supports you, and how you want to be supported
  • Support you to take as much control of your life as you wish
  • Continuously check with you that you are satisfied and if you are not happy, take action to put it right

Honeytones – sweet success

A North Devon rock band, made up of eight adults with learning disabilities, is scheduled for a TV appearance on 25 November. The Honeytones were filmed by ITV as an entry in the Peoples Millions award scheme. Now the group is appealing for support from organisations and individuals in the Westcountry TV region to secure the most telephone votes on the night of the broadcast. If the group wins the vote they hope to purchase a minibus and other equipment. Votes will cost 10p on a BT landline and ITV are counting up to 10 votes made per line on the day.

The NEW Local Involvement Network (LINk) and Plymouth’s Advisory Partnership for Older People (PAPOP) is up and running!

The Local Involvement Network and Plymouth Advisory Partnership for Older People have had their first Transition Group meetings. The Transition groups are made up of interested people, members of the local community or representatives of local agencies working with Plymouths communities. The transitions groups have been set up to support the LINk and PAPOP to get established.

The LINk are planning a launch over the next few months to tell everyone about what it is doing, how people can get involved, what will happen to their feedback and how services can improve as a result of their involvement.

Events and Community Involvement

LINk and PAPOP have already started to spread the word about their presence and the opportunities they offer. We have been involved with various events such as ‘The Big Picture’, ‘Volunteer Week’, Refugee Week, ‘Carer’s Week’ to try and get information out there about the service and start to obtain feedback about what people really want from local services. LINk will continue to have a presence out in the community and if you have any suggestions of events you think would be useful for the LINk/PAPOP please let them know.

HOW YOU CAN GIVE YOUR VIEWS:

LINk want all of your feedback about Health and Social Care Services and ANY services affecting people age 50 or over. You can contact us via telephone, email or letter.
